Pierre Calame, graduate of the Ecole polytechnique, Ponts et Chaussées engineer, worked for 20 years at the French Ministry of Development where he handled various responsibilities regarding territorial management and central administration.
He parted with this post convinced of the need of a radical reform of the State.
After a brief interlude in manufacturing, he now directs, as he has for more than 15 years, an international foundation – the Charles Léopold Mayer Foundation.
He has written many works including « L’Etat au coeur » (The Heart of the State), published by Desclée de Brouwer, Paris, in 1997, and “La démocratie en miettes” (Democracy in Pieces), published by Descartes &Cie, Editions Charles Léopold Mayer, in 2003.
