Non-Violence XXI, Association Fund for a culture of non-violence in the 21st Century
Non-Violence XXI brings together 11 main non-violent French organizations ; it intends to develop, in France and worldwide, a true culture of non-violence.

To develop a culture of non-violence is to teach one how to handle the inevitable conflicts that arise – at school, at work, in one’s neighborhood, but also at the international level, by using means that plainly exclude violence. We notice already, in France as in many countries, the development of the use of mediation in many sectors of society, the introduction of non-violence in school and experimentation of unarmed, civil intervention in local conflicts. It seems to be a beginning of a « professionalization » of the non-violent control of conflicts, notably in the training sector.
At the beginning of the 21st century, a vast gap exists between the declarations, made by those in positions of power, for a culture of non-violence and the insufficient and problematic means put into place by the few actors in the field. In order to reduce this gap and to create the necessary conditions for the development of a culture of non-violence, the movements and associations that have worked on this issue for many years decided to found, with the support of a few personalities who are well-known for their work in favor of non-violence, a new organization devoted exclusively to the culture of non-violence.
The Association Fund Non-Violence XXI is entirely dedicated to financing a culture of non-violence and supporting projects in the following three areas :
The culture of non-violence in France : « Non-violence – it can be learned ! »
To learn non-violence in school is a necessity, an urgent one. In an environment where the media is constantly putting violence on front-stage, it is time that a new voice be heard : that of non-violence. That is why Non-Violence XXI created the Fund for the education of non-violence, in order to create and distribute the diverse tools and support (educational packs, informational tools, videos, CD-ROMs, games, et cetera), to finance training in the field of conflict resolution, to organize academic and extra-curricular activities in schools, et cetera.
Civic non-violent intervention worldwide : « Peace needs volunteers »
It consists of support the training and the missions of the teams of volunteers for peace that intervene throughout the world in order to prevent conflict in zones of tension, to defuse armed conflict when it is triggered, to manage the frustration, incomprehension and hate, to rebuild peace. Their missions vary : training, mediation, protection, intervention.
Non-violent action : « To express yourself, to demand, to resist: choose non-violent action »
Faced with the injustices that undermine the dignity of Humankind and the pollution that endangers our environment, action is necessary. All too often, violence is used, whereas non-violent action is preferable as it is the only action where the ends justify the means! Non-Violence XXI wishes to promote the use of non-violent methods in political, union/syndicated/coalition, organization, and civic actions, notably by supporting training in non-violent action.
