Arnaud BLIN

Born in Paris, Arnaud Blin spent his early years in Montmartre, and later in Picardy. He then followed his family to the United States and disembarked in New York at the time when Neil Armstrong was setting foot on the moon. After an interlude in Togo, he started political science studies in the United Studies.

His studies include :

  • Just War, at Georgetown University ;

  • International Law and Political Philosophy, at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy ;

  • History of Religion and Ethics, at Harvard University.

While completing his studies and before committing himself to research, he held various employments, including in the automobile industry (Citroën), banking (Citicorps) and naval construction (naval yards and industries of the Congo).

In 1997, he founded the Beaumarchais Center for International Research, in Washington, DC. During the night and into the morning of September 10 and 11, 2001, he left the United States for France. He then worked on various projects for the Charles Léopold Mayer Foundation and as Associated Researcher with the Institute of Diplomacy and Defense (Paris).

In 2003, he left Paris for two years to join the Research Center of the School of Peace in Grenoble where he directed the « Peace Indicators » project.

In 2005, with support from the Charles Léopold Mayer Foundation, he launched the « Building Bridges and Dialogue », project whose objective is to build civic dialogue between the United States and the rest of the world.

He is currently President of the Forum for a new World Governance and President of Modus Operandi’s association.

Arnaud Blin is specializing in international relations and the history of conflicts ; he is Researcher at the French Institute of Strategic Analysis and the author of numerous books, including : Géopolitique de la paix démocratique (The Geopolitics of Democratic Peace) ; La Paix de Westphalie, 1648 : vers l’Europe politique moderne (The Peace of Westphalia, 1648 : Towards a contemporary political Europe) ; Le Désarroi de la puissance (The Disorder of Power) ; La Terreur démasquée (Terror Exposed) ; Le Terrorisme ; L’Histoire du terrorisme (Terrorism : The History of Terrorism) (with G. Chaliand).
