Karine Gatelier

  • Holder of a doctorate in Social Anthropology (EHESS, Paris), Karine Gatelier has conducted research in Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kirghizstan (1998-2002). Her focus centered on the collective identities and relations between minorities and majorities within the Uzbekistani society. Before this, she completed her studies in international relations (INALCO, Paris) and languages (English, Russian, Persian).

  • Today she works on the political transformation of conflict when coming out of crisis, the dynamic of the breakdown of States, as well as the experiences and perspectives of the reorganization and reform of the State in the regions of Central Asia (post-Soviet and Afghanistan), the Balkans, and ex-URSS. This research is conducted in the framework of Modus Operandi, a non-profit organization.

  • Lastly, she teaches Geopolitics and Conflict Analysis.
